Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing.

In what way is Van Helsing different in this movie from the way he is portrayed in Stoker's novel? Which portrayal of Van Helsing do you prefer and why?

  1. Van Helsing is a whole lot different (and sexier) of what everyone expected. Besides, this movie is supposed to be years before Bram Stoker's Dracula and Dracula gets killed. WHAT THE JONAS?! I prefer Van Helsing being a wise, old man that once in his youth used to kick some monster ass:)

  2. He is such a badass in this movie!!!!! He basically does it all in the movie, and usually acts before thinking. In the book, Van Helsing is presented as an old man, who has clearly passed his prime, but still can be a great mentor for a young brave man like Jonathan Harker.

  3. In the book Van Helsing is an old guy, a smart doctor. In the movie Van Helsing is a strong man who kills all the monsters that the Vatican moks tell him to kill. I like both, but I would like a combination of a strong young doctor who kills monsters :)

  4. Van Helsing in the novel is an old, wise doctor that seems to know everything about vampires and how to destroy them. Van Helsing in the movie has most of those characteristics (except being old and a doctor) and additionally, he is young AND strong. Therefore, I prefer the movie's version of Van Helsing.

Strong, young, and kill vampires: the perfect man. The Van Helsing of the novel is just old. LILY <3
